One of the main highlights towards the end of last year 2016 was the arrival of one of the two Bombardier Q400NG turboprop aircrafts that have been purchased by the government for the national airline, Air Tanzania Company Limited.
While still savoring news of the arrival of the new aircraft, President John Magufuli made appointments of the new Chairman of the Board of Directors for the national airline and a new Chief Executive Officer to restore the lost glory of the airline.
He appointed Engineer Emmanuel Korosso new Board Chairman, and Engineer Ladislaus Matindi new Managing Director to restore glory of the national airline. That was followed by appointment of new board members of the airline by Minister for Works, Transport and Communications, Prof Makame Mbarawa.
Introducing the new board to the public, Prof Mbarawa used the opportunity to give the new team just three months to clean the house and overhaul the entire management of the airline following widespread opinion that the former managers were somehow responsible for the financial and operational mess.
