A passenger's baggage consists of personal articles and belongings transported by the passenger during travel.

All baggage must be properly packed into suitcases or similar containers in order to allow safe and efficient handling. Please be sure that baggage is rigid and resistant enough to be unaffected by normal handling.

There are two categories of baggage:

a. Checked Baggage

b. Cabin Baggage (or hand baggage)

a) CHECKED BAGGAGE

A passenger is limited in the amount of baggage he/she may carry according to the given class of a purchased ticket.

Tickets for higher classes of travel allow the passenger to transport more baggage.

Air Tanzania calculates the transport of baggage according to weight.

Passengers are entitled to transport 30 kg of baggage in the Business Class and 20 kg of baggage in Economy Class. Children from the ages of 2 – 12 are entitled to the same amount of baggage as adults. Children under 2 (infants) are not not eligible to baggage allowance.

If it is ascertained during baggage check-in that a passenger exceeds the baggage limit, the passenger is required to pay for the excess baggage at the airport, for which the passenger will receive a receipt.
